Everything you need to get the most out of StayLens.
Searching
Type your trip the way you'd describe it to a friend. The more you tell us, the better the results:
- “Clean homestay near Gateway of India, 2 nights next weekend”
- “Hotel walking distance to the Eiffel Tower, Oct 10–13, 2 adults, under €200/night”
- “Quiet stay near Baga Beach for a long weekend in October, good for working”
StayLens turns that into dates, party size, budget, and — most importantly — the place you want to be near. If something was ambiguous (like which weekend), we show what we assumed so you can correct it. Hard requirements (price caps, amenities) filter results; soft wishes (“quiet”, “good breakfast”) are checked against real guest reviews instead.
Reading the results
- The map is the search. The red dot is your place of interest; each white pill is a stay, labelled with its per-night price (or rating where no price is available). Click any pin or card to open the details.
- Distance is measured to your place of interest — the fort, the venue, the beach you named — with an estimated walking time when it's walkable.
- Ranking blends distance, total price, guest rating, and hygiene. Never advertising — nobody can pay to rank higher.
Prices
- The headline number is the total for your whole stay, not a teaser nightly rate. We tell you whether taxes are included.
- A price marked “est.” is a snapshot, not a bookable rate — always confirm on the provider's page (one click away, with your dates carried over).
- Some places show “Price on provider site” — that provider doesn't share live prices with anyone, so we link you straight to it rather than guessing.
Reviews & the hygiene read
For each stay we summarize what guests actually wrote — the good, the bad, and specifically anything about cleanliness. Three rules keep it honest:
- Every hygiene claim is backed by verbatim quotes from real reviews, shown with their source.
- A numeric cleanliness score appears only when a provider publishes one — we never invent numbers.
- If reviews say nothing about cleanliness, we tell you exactly that. Silence is information too.
Accounts, history & wishlist
- Searching never requires an account. Sign-in (with Google) is asked for when you open a stay's full review breakdown, save to your wishlist, or want your history on other devices.
- Nothing you did as a guest is lost. The moment you sign in, your earlier searches and conversations are attached to your account — including the ones that never led to a booking.
- Your wishlist keeps a snapshot of each saved stay, so you can compare later even if prices move.
Booking
StayLens doesn't take bookings or payments. When you've chosen, we hand you to the right place to book — the property's own website when it has one, or the provider listing it. Your dates and party size carry over so the price you confirm is the price you saw.
FAQ
- Is StayLens really free?
- Yes — searching, the map, summaries, all of it. If we ever earn a commission when you book through a partner link, it never changes your price or our ranking.
- Why don't I see live prices for some providers?
- Not every platform shares prices with anyone outside their own site. Where that's the case we link you to them instead of showing a made-up number.
- Can I trust the hygiene verdict?
- You can trust it to be exactly what guests wrote — no more, no less. Every claim links to a verbatim quote, and where a real cleanliness score exists we show it on its native scale.
- What happens to my data?
- Guest sessions live in a cookie on your device; searches and chats are stored so you can pick them up later, and become yours when you sign in. We don't sell data, and we only ever store content whose source permits storing it.
